Carling Cup Final Official Gathering, 27th Feb 2011

Thanks to Daim, Kelab Shah Alam gave us a great deal for our gathering. For only RM12 per head, we get to watch the game on big screens, enjoy a special supper buffet, get to chance to play in 3 games (PES, ball juggling, sharp shooter) and also maybe win something in the lucky draw. AFCSM topped up that offer so that guests can have tid-bits and drinks before the match if they come early to participate in the games, and also to add to the prizes for the games and lucky draw.

We bought almost all the available tickets and sold them to our registered members at the same price. Non-members could get them for RM15, still not a bad deal.

Khai contributed a lot. Thanks bro!

Bard was a BIG help with the T-shirt sales. Naz too, with the ticket collection. Thanks guys!

Alas, it was not to be...

It was an amazing atmosphere! You'd be hard pressed to find more Gooners in one place like this!

All tickets were sold and still many people couldn't get them. We thought 200 was a good number to target considering kickoff was midnight on Sunday, but evidently, we could have sold many more.

Despite some hitches, I would still rate this event a success. Good job Daim and KSAS. Credit also to AFCSM's organizing committee and volunteers. Pity about the result and the shock of learning someone actually won the Score Prediction contest. Wow!

Futsal Kickabout, 23rd Jan 2011

Another kickabout, 2 hours for the guys. A surprise (to most people) was another session on another pitch, which was for the ladies, albeit for 1 hour only. Great start for them and long may it continue.

Meeting Arsenal Indonesia, 26th Dec 2010, finally!

When the secretary of Arsenal Indonesia was in town previously, I wasn't well enough to see her. This time, a couple of them, including Windra the chairman, came over to KL for the AFF final first leg. They contacted us and Atiqah was kind enough to join me in meeting them.

Another futsal kickabout. We wanted tok play 2 hours again, but since we couldn't get enough names (holiday weekend), we played 1 hour only. Turned out to be a good thing, since we could then play on the blue pitch.

Waiting for the VIP...

We were keeping it under wraps, but FA was supposed to be participating in this tournament, but he pulled out the night before. Injured after playing rugby. Azman was roped in as replacement.

Khai was part of the squad, but I was chosen to play instead. Good sport Khai. Not easy to find someone like him. As a fellow keeper, I feel for him and I'm backing him to come back stronger in future football/futsal events.

Arsenal Malaysia failed to qualify for the 2nd round after winning only 1 group game and losing the other 2. It was disappointing of course, but personally, I'm reminded why I don't really look forward to playing in futsal tournaments. When you are playing only 5 minutes per half on a small pitch, most guys will become aggressive and rough play is very common. It will be worse if the referee is not up to mark, and that's putting it mildly. All 4 teams hated the ref that took charge of our group. A couple of guys even threatened to beat him up.

We didn't lose because of the referee though. The other teams were just better on that day.
